The resurfacing of 39 miles of U.S. Route 54 in Audrain and Pike County could being as early as March 18, barring inclement weather, MODOT announced Monday.

The project will start near Basinger Corner, the intersection of Missouri Route 19 and US-54 west of Vandalia.

It includes work on sidewalks and parking areas in Vandalia in conjunction with the City of Vandalia and sidewalk improvements in Curryville.

The expected date of completion, per MoDOT’s announcement, is Nov. 1, 2019.

You can find more information by calling MoDOT’s Customer Service Center 1-888-ASK-MODOT (1-888-275-6636) or by going online to www.modot.mo.gov/northeast.

The almost $10 million contract for the work was awarded to Magruder Paving.

A representative of Magruder Paving told the Louisiana Press-Journal last month that work on another MoDOT resurfacing project, along US Route 79 between the Lincoln County line and Louisiana, was also set to start shortly, with the caveat that it was especially sensitive to weather concerns.
