Two Louisiana residents, including a one-year-old infant, were among those injured when three vehicles collided on Hwy. 54 west of Bowling Green on Monday evening.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Monday, Judith R. Stine, 75, of Wellsville, was traveling westbound on Hwy. 54 and attempted to overtake an unidentified vehicle, known in the report as Vehicle No. 3. Stine then attempted to pass Vehicle No. 3 when the Chevrolet HHR that she was driving struck the Chevrolet Prism driven by Elizabeth Hainline, 25, of Louisiana. Also in the vehicle with Hainline was Renzi A. Hainline, 1, also of Louisiana.
After striking Hainline’s vehicle, the highway patrol reports that Stine’s vehicle struck Vehicle No. 3, which later fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement or emergency responders.
Both Stine and Hainline’s vehicles left the roadway, according to the highway patrol.
Stine, who was moderately injured in the crash, was taken by ambulance to Pike County Memorial Hospital by an ambulance for treatment of her injuries.
Both Renzi Hainline, who had minor injuries, and Elizabeth Hainline, who had moderate injuries, were taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
All three motorists were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
