Massman Construction took a short field trip to Riverview Park for its first outdoor Champ Clark Bridge update on Saturday, June 2.
Design Build Coordinator Micheal Massman gave a brief update and answered questions.
“The most obvious improvement is this deck that we built,’ he said.
The deck serves as a lookout to bridge construction progress and has information posted about the project.
Structural steel will begin to be seen this month on the Illinois side
The steel girders are coming from Wisconsin and are between 11 ½ and 12 ft. deep.
The company will also be bringing out the heaviest machinery this week when the Manitowoc 7000 appears on-site.

Massman workers continue building a pier for the new Champ Clark Bridge. Structural steel will begin to make its way to the Illinois side later this month.
