[Editor’s Note: Anyone who read the story titled “Barge-mounted crane brought in for steel work” where the date of the update meeting was lsited June 23 and showed up to no meeting or saw the date listed in the re-print of the original Champ Clark Bridge construction insert, there was some mixed information. I apologize.] It’s beginning to take shape.
Massman Construction held their monthly meeting for updates on the Champ Clark Bridge at Henderson Riverview Park on Saturday, June 30.
“Since our last update one thing that has happened is we’ve placed our last column pour. So on the Missouri side, what we call Pier 2 on the Missouri shoreline, we’ve placed the last columns and we’re getting ready to move the cap for them on top of the pier. We’ll move that from Pier 3 to Pier 2,” Massman Construction Project Manager T.J. Colombatto said.
The process will happen in the next few weeks and complete the capping process on all the piers on the river.
“We have two piers to left to put caps on [that are] on the Illinois shore and both bridge abutments where the bridge ends. We have both of those still to construct and they’ll be constructed in the next couple of months,” Colombatto said.
