State to strengthen school online security

Posted on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 3:00 pm

The state of Missouri is looking to add another layer of protection for students online.
Missouri Senate Bill 478 was announced by Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway that would “require school districts to notify parents or guardians of a data breach involving student information,” according to a press release.
“Under the current law, a parent might not learn that their child’s sensitive information has been compromised until it’s too late and their identity has been stolen,” Galloway said.

Clopton students work in the school’s computer lab on Monday, March 13. The school uses MOREnet for online protection and tech services to protect the students while they work.
