Several young artists from the Louisiana were recognized at Quincy Art Center’s 45th Annual High School Art Competition.
High school students from schools within a 50-mile radius of Quincy are eligible to enter the contest.
This year’s show had 237 entries from 20 schools, 100 of which were accepted.
Several students of Cindy Logan, a Louisiana-based artist and art teacher, were featured in the competition.
Abby White of Clopton High School had three pieces accepted and earned scholarships from two college and a $100 merit award for her piece Autoworld in Fulton. Also recognized were Hannah Blackmore, of Louisiana High School, (two pieces accepted), Olivia Blackmore, of Louisiana High School (one accepted), Blake Powell, of Louisiana High School (two accepted), Hannah Snider, of Troy High School (two accepted), Kaci Riddle (two accepted), Amanda Wilkinson (one accepted) and Alexis Ince (one accepted).
This show will be on display at the Quincy Art Center through March 1.
A pair of Louisiana High School students were recognized for submissions to the national contest of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Raegan Bowser received two honorable mentions and Hanna Blackmore won an honorable mention.
This national competition usually has 300,000 entries.
