“My whole vision is seamless transitions from one building to the next to the next,” said Dr. Todd Smith, superintendent of Louisiana R-II in an interview with the Louisiana Press Journal last week.
As the Louisiana school district prepares to begin school on August 15, staff has been added and facilities have been improved.
To bring that vision into focus, Mrs. Carey Scherder has been hired as assistant principal at Louisiana Elementary School.
“We’ve never had an assistant principal anywhere. But, it’s just the sheer volume of kids at the elementary. And, just managing the discipline has become an issue,” Dr. Smith said.
“We hope this assistant can step in and really work on that. She’s going to focus a lot on character education,” Dr. Smith said.
