The Louisiana city council will have a new look going forward under the command of a new mayor.
New mayor Marvin Brown along with new councilmen Myles Neff and Rodney Dolbeare were sworn into office on Monday, April 23, during the regularly scheduled meeting.
Tim Jackson, Chuck Hoffman and Bob Ringhausen were also sworn in to their current seats after winning re-election.
In the final meeting led by former mayor Bart Niedner the council touched on two ongoing topics: the demolition of the building at 401 Georgia St. and the open carry ordinance for city employees.
A new vehicle for the fire department was also discussed.
The council decided to suspend the open carry policy until a work study can be completed to see what changes and additions are needed.
Council member Brice Chandler consulted with Louisiana Police Chief about the issue.
“Her recommendation was to not allow open carry currently until we have [City Attorney Robert] Rapp and the council discuss it in further detail,” he said.
