The Louisiana High School Scholar Bowl team competed in the Ladue Invitational Spring Tournament on Saturday, April 1.
The team finished sixth out of 22 teams and had a record of 6-4.
“This was just our second tournament where negatives are scored,” Head Coach Malia Jolly said.
“We’re still adjusting to that. We had substantially fewer than last time.”
The Bulldogs triumphed over Washington C, Priory B, Oakville, Mattoon A, Helias and Marquette A.
Louisiana fell to MICDS, Carbondale A, Washington A and Orchard Farm A.
“I think those losses help,” Jolly said.
“It pushes us to buzz in quicker.”
Michael Powers was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs by averaging 124 points per game in the preliminary round and 93.5 points per game on the day for a third place finish overall individually.
The team is now 41-14 this season.
Louisiana will host the MSHSAA Class 2 District 12 Scholar Bowl Tournament at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 8.
“I’m pretty confident. We’ve played some of these teams already,” Jolly said.
“I think we have a really good chance to win districts.”
