Mark Twain Regional Council of Governments met with the Pike County mayors on Thursday, May 24, to discuss what immediate projects were needed for the county as a whole and each individual town and city.
The projects had to be related to flooding or economic development to qualify.
The two funding streams available are EDA grants and Community Development Block Grants.
Louisiana Mayor Marvin Brown and United Economic Development Council Maggie Neff represented Louisiana to add town branch wall bridge work and other issues to the list of projects.
The bridges for the town branch that were mentioned to be replaced are located at Fifth and Tennessee Streets ($187,000 – $210,000 estimate cost), Sixth and Georgia Streets ($187,000 – $210,000 estimate cost) and Sixth and Kentucky ($127,000 – $150,000 estimate cost).

Members of the Mark Twain Council of Governments listen to project needs from the Pike County mayor on Thursday, May 24, at the Bowling Green Community Center. The two available revenue streams are EDA grants and Community Development Block Grants.
