Those people who work in Emergency Medical Services through Pike County Memorial Hospital are being offered an annual certification in emergency vehicle operations, according to Ms. Reesa VanHooser, EMS Director of PCMH.
The driving portion of the course was set up on the parking lot at Louisiana High School.
Although there are other components, the Emergency Vehicle Operators Course is mainly focused on driving requirements. The participants undergo a total of six hours of instruction, including in the classroom.
Certification in EVOC is a requirement for employment, according to Ms. VanHooser. Participants who successfully complete the course receive a one-year certificate. Recertification will be offered annually.
