Obituaries for the week of 6/11/14

Obituaries for this week include a Celebration of Life service for William (Billy Sheppard), 95 of Louisiana; Elbert H. Jennings, 80, of Frankford; Robert C. (Bob) Carroll, 85, of Jefferson City, formerly of Clarksville; and Dr. Russell Patrick Sr., 84 of Big Spring, Texas.


William (Billy) Sheppard

A Celebration of Life for William (Billy) Sheppard, 95, of Louisiana will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 16 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Pat Glenn will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:30 p.m. until time of services at 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 16 at the funeral home.
Mr. Sheppard, passed away peacefully at his home on Dec. 16, 2013.

Elbert H. Jennings

Elbert H. Jennings, age 80, of Frankford, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at his home.
Elbert requested that there be no formal visitation or funeral. Instead, he asked that there be a gathering of friends and family to celebrate his life on this earth.  In honoring his wishes the family asks that everyone join them on Saturday, June 7, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jennings Opry Building in Frankford. There will be a carry-in meal/BBQ. We will reminisce and reconnect with the friends and family that meant so much to him.
He was born April 13, 1934 in Ralls County, the son of Edward Green and Fannie Arbelle Wilkens Jennings.  He married Patsy Jo Clark on April 5, 1954.
They were married until 2003.  He later married Catherine L. Griffen on April 10, 2009.  She survives.
Other survivors include son David Lee Jennings; daughters Patty Youngblood, LaRita Jennings, Della Newsom, Sarah Pettey and husband Keith, Lora Williams and Bob Myers; step-daughter Jennifer James and husband Bryan; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren;  brother Ivan Jennings and wife Edna.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Darrell, Denver, Orville, Glen, Junior, and Raymond; sister Claire Akens; nephew Elgin.
Elbert loved playing music and singing, building things, and making things out of wood, metal, and iron.  He loved playing double twelve dominos and Kings in the Corner.  Above all he loved family get-togethers and being around his family.
Cremation rites were under the direction of the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green.
Memorials may be made to  Pike County Hospice.

Robert C. (Bob) Carroll

Robert C. (Bob) Carroll, 85, of Jefferson City, formerly of Clarksville, passed away after a very brief illness Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
Bob was born on December 10, 1928, in Louisiana, the son of Russell Clark and Madge Ferguson Carroll.
Bob grew up in Clarksville, and was a 1946 graduate of Clarksville High School. He married Carolyn F. Blagg  of Kansas City March 8, 1952 .
Funeral services were Monday, June 9, at First Christian Church in Jefferson City. Freeman Mortuary of Jefferson City was in charge of arrangements.


Dr. Russell Patrick Sr.

Dr. Russell A. Patrick Sr., 84, of Big Spring, Texas died Monday, June 3, 2014 at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, Texas. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, June 6 at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel, Big Spring, Texas. Interment was at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring, Texas.
