With the closing of Holcim and the loss of revenue from the state and federal governments, the Pike County R-III (Clopton) School District has had to make some drastic changes and is asking the district to help support the school so more cuts will not have to be made.

The district readied for the upcoming levy increase issue that will appear on the Aug. 3 ballot, "Save Our Schools," by holding a public meeting Thursday, July 22.

This is necessary due to a loss of $437,000 in revenue.
