LHS Quiz Bowl
The new season has started for the defending champions by placing fourth out of 40 teams in the Washington University Fall Academic Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 11.
The team went undefeated in the preliminary round and playoffs with victories over Parkway West, Granite City, Ladue C, Helias A, Lutheran A, Southwestern Piasa A and Henderson County.
The team advanced to the superplayoffs but suffered losses to MICDS (340-275), Ladue A (610-80)and Miami Valley (375-245).
Junior Michael Powers was the second overall top individual scorer in the preliminary round with 161.25 points per game.
The Chamber of Commerce will no longer be hosting the Winter Wonderland parade but the event will continue on.
River City Entertainment will be hosting the event at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, at the Fourth St. lot
The parade will begin at Sunset Park and will travel down to the intersection of Fourth and Georgia Streets.

Intermittent lane closures for Hwy. 54 in Illinois may be a possibility as construction crews continue work on water casings for piers.
“Crews are clearing trees on the Illinois side of the bridge now to prepare the area for additional construction on the new bridge,” MoDOT Area Engineer Brian Haeffner said.
“The work will be taking place over the next month and we appreciate the patience of those who drive across the bridge in the event of a brief closure.”
