New food pantry program for seniors

Posted on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 2:30 pm

The Louisiana Community Food Pantry is now offering its patrons who are sixty years of age or older the opportunity to receive more food items every month.
The St. Louis Area Foodbank, in partnership with the USDA and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, is offering a box of food which is designed to help older adults meet their special nutritional needs.
Each box will contain canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, juice, shelf-stable milk, peanut butter, rice or beans and more.
Our pantry will help those who have expressed an interest.
Anyone else who is interested needs to fill out the necessary form beginning this week during normal our usual hours.
The requirements to qualify include the following: must be 60 or older, must fall into a specific income bracket, must provide proof of identity and current address(utility bill or drivers license). A proxy can provide the necessary information for those who are homebound. Proof of income will NOT be needed.
Participants are promised privacy and cannot be refused this service for any reason unless the patron provides fraudulent information or misuses the program.
Our hours are:
•Monday: 9:00 a.m. – Noon
•Wednesday: 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
•Friday: 9:00 a.m. – Noon.
Stop by the pantry or call Sara at 754-2421 with any concerns or questions.
