CLOPTON SCHOOL – Stephanie Grimes will be the new principal of Clopton Elementary, replacing retiring Principal Linda Henderson. The Pike County R-III Board of Education voted to hire Grimes during the close session of a special board meeting last Wednesday.

Grimes arrived at the district in 2015. She has been a classroom teacher in the elementary school and worked on a team carrying out a federal reading intervention program. She was hired to coordinate federal programs for Clopton in May.

Board members signed off on several steps toward the expansion of Pike Lincoln Technical Center’s welding program during the public portion of the meeting.

Board members also voted to host members of the National Guard in the school’s old gymnasium, accommodating a last-minute request —National Guard members were set to arrive that night to fight the flooding in Clarksville.

At another board meeting Monday Superintendent Mark Harvey told board members he had continued to hear from both faculty and various hourly employees with concerns about wages, and would present the board with options at a future board meeting.
