The advisory panel working towards a unified economic development plan or Louisiana achieved its goal of creating the board that will oversee economic develoment in the city.
The board, named the Unified Economic Development Council (UEDC), will be made up of Mayor Bart Niedner, Bob Mustell, Tim Jenkins, Ken Lane and Diana Huckstep.
The Louisiana Chamber of Commerce agreed to join the council along with the Louisiana Visitor and Convention Bureau and the Louisiana Municipal Corporation, the city’s non-profit wing made up of the city council and mayor.
“We spoke at our last meeting and we really only had one member who was hesitant. We just had to let them know it doesn’t mean we’re going to dissolve the chamber so it’s something where if it doesn’t work out there is no chamber,” chamber board member Justin Selle said.
