The Bulldogs are in the Sweet 16.
The Louisiana Quiz Bowl team won the Class 2 District 12 Championship on Saturday, April 8 and advance to the Class 2 Championship.
“We’re getting strong scores,” Head Coach Malia Jolly said.
“Our averages are up there and we have a very good chance of being competitive.”
In the district tournament, the Bulldogs received a first round bye.
In the second round the team triumphed over Clopton 490-240.
The third round was a blowout of Van Far 540-90.
The Bulldogs rolled through the semi-finals against Monroe City 550-110 and defeated Clopton a second time 580-120 for the crown.
Michael Powers was the top individual scorer averaging 30 tossups per game.
With the victory, the Bulldogs now match up against New Haven on Wednesday, April 26, in a sectional matchup at New Haven.
It will be a best two out of three match.
The two schools have not met in competition this year.
“We’re looking forward to it. The kids are studying very hard,” Jolly said.
The winner of the meeting will advance to the state championships held on Friday, May 5, at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
