Louisiana Press-Journal circulates candidate questionaires

The Louisiana Press-Journal is circulating candidate questionnaires for people on the April ballot. Candidates interested in being included in our election coverage should answer the questions below. Please keep your responses to 400 words total.

Responses received by midnight on Sunday, March 24, will be published in next week’s edition of the Louisiana Press-Journal. Responses received later will be published to the Louisiana Press-Journal’s website as they are received. They can be sent by email to lpjed@lcs.net or dropped off at the Bowling Green Times offices at 106 W. Main Street.

PIKE R-III SCHOOL BOARD

1. Briefly introduce yourself. Be sure to give your background, occupation, connection to the school district and any previous experience in public office

2. How would you approach the district’s budget? If you are in favor of making cuts, where would you look to make them? Are you open to putting a tax levy increase before the public as an alternative to further cuts?

3. What would be your other policy priorities during your time on the board?

911 BOARD

1. Briefly introduce yourself. Be sure to give your background, occupation and any previous experience in public office or with public safety issues.

2. What opportunities does an all-county 911 system offer Pike County? How would you encourage those possibilities?

3. What challenges do you think the new board may face? How would you confront those challenges?

EOLIA BOARD OF TRUSTEES

1. Briefly introduce yourself. Be sure to give your background, occupation, connection to Eolia and any previous experience in public office.

2. What is the biggest challenge facing Eolia? How do you think it can be addressed?

OTHER OFFICES

Other offices are uncontested, barring the possibility of write-in candidates, but the election gives officeholders a chance to check in with their constituents. If this interests you, answer the questions below.
