A Louisiana man was killed Friday, July 11 when he stepped in front of a car on Hwy. 96 in Illinois, according to the Pike County, Ill. Sheriff’s Department.
Daniel L. Calvin, 40, attempted to cross the highway in a lowly lit area across from the Copperhead Tavern south of New Canton.
Authorities believe Calvin was trying to get to a vehicle on the other side of the road when he was struck by a southbound 1995 Mercury Sable.
Calvin was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Pike County (Ill.) Coroner’s Office.
