City of Louisiana Ward II Councilwoman Kiffany Ardeneaux, Chair of the Housing Committee, told the council during the City Council meeting on Monday, Nov. 26, that she believes the City should definitely look into the City of Hannibal’s “Community Planned Renovation, Investment, Development Endeavor (P.R.I.D.E)” program.
Ardeneaux told the council that the program would take dilapidated City lots and sell it to people for a low amount as long as they promise that within six months, the process of building on the lot will begin and within 18 months, there will be a single-family home on the property.
City Administrator Kelly Henderson told the council that if the City were to pursue this program, they may have to go through the court in order to gain access to some dilapidated property if the owner is not willing to sign the title over to the City. For example, a lot with a house on it that the City believes needs to be torn down.
