Less than a month ahead of the countywide primary election, candidates and their many supporters flooded the picnic grounds of the St. Clement Picnic on Saturday, July 14.
The event, which is sponsored by the St. Clement Knights of Columbus, has become an important campaign stop for candidates hoping to build support among Pike County voters prior to the Primary Election. This year the Primary Election is August 7.
While the event was well attended by incumbent county elected officials, their respective challengers were not in attendance. Also not attending the event were Pike County Presiding Commissioner Chris Gamm, Pike County Treasurer Patti Crane, and Pike County Circuit Court Clerk Jerri Harrelson.
Those in attendance were given a few minutes to speak to the assembled crowd of voters. Here is a summary of the candidates, who participated in the forum, and their remarks.
