Mrs. Danielle Robinson’s fifth hour Current Events class at Clopton School set a goal to help out Hurricane Harvey victims.
On Sept. 14, the eighth grade class at Clopton wanted to help out by starting a Basic Necessities Drive.
This drive allowed junior high and high school students to donate items.
The drive began on Sept. 18 and continued through Sept. 22.
Many things, like toilet paper, diapers, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, and many other items, were given to the victims.
All together there were over 350 items donated in fact bags and boxes were filled to the top.
Mrs. Deaven Streed’s first hour class came in first place with an average of six items per person!
The winning class won an ice cream cake, which Mrs. Robinson provided.
All of the donation items were accepted by the Refuge Church in Bowling Green, Missouri.
The truck headed down to Texas on Friday, Oct. 6.
I hope that this drive will help a lot people and I encourage all of you to at least donate a few items.
