The Chautauqua Chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs met recently at the Louisiana Public Library. The program was presented by Amber Hughes, the founder of “Diva’s Wish.”
This organization is dedicated to the rescue and welfare of animals in Pike County. Her goals are to educate, to advocate, and to strengthen the human animal bond. “Diva’s Wish” has had success adopting animals out to individuals, including autistic children, and has placed one in an Alzheimer’s care unit. Animals that come to the organization in need of medical attention receive aid from local veterinarians.
When called upon, this organization helps the shelter in Louisiana and the Humane Society of Missouri. “Diva’s Wish” is an all-volunteer organization that depends on donations in order to carry out its mission. Anyone interested in donating or volunteering can call Amber Hughes at 573-754-5000.
GFWC Chautauqua is part of an international organization that encourages members to volunteer in their communities. It meets the first Monday of each month. Anyone interested in finding out more about the group can call Judy Dew at 573-242-3794.
