One hour into his new position, Joe MacLaughlin was about as green as possible.
“It’s a lot to learn and I’ve got big shoes to fill. I know [retiring coach] Macey [Black] has done so much. I’m looking forward to it but I’m also a little nervous,” new Twin Pike Family YMCA Aquatics Director Joe MacLaughlin said.
The first task was testing the water.
“I expect it’s going to be pretty busy. I’m used to the swim team part of it at least from the coaching side,” MacLaughlin said.
“The management side will be new to me. Getting a handle on what to do day to day is the biggest thing for me right now.”
MacLaughlin was pulled from the sidelines last season by Black to gain some coaching experience.
“Joe had a really great response from our parents within the community,” she said.
