City workers accidentally broke a gas line while working on the Georgia Steet Corridor Project on Thursday, according to Mr. Philip Quattrocchi, Louisiana Fire Chief.
“At 9:24 a.m. we were dispatched to the 1300 block of Georgia street,” he said.
“We were told that the gas line was struck by city personnel working on the sidewalks.”
Fire fighters used their vehicles and signage to block access to two blocks of Georgia street while they waited for Ameren Missouri to repair the damage.
Ameren Missouri arrived and shut off both gas and electricity to the immediate area. They had service back up by the end of business hours.

Access to the 1300 and 1400 blocks of Georgia Street were blocked off for much of the day on Thursday after a gas line was broken by city workers.
