Kristen Kelly Tucker of Eolia was awarded the John Philip Sousa Band Award at Clopton High School’s recent Music Awards Banquet.
The Sousa Award is the most prestigious award for high school band students.
Tucker has been a member of Clopton Band for the past eight years. She participated in Marching Band, Pep Band, EMO Band, and was awarded a 2 rating at Music District Competition for clarinet solo as a freshman and a 1 rating at Districts for clarinet quartet as a freshman. The quartet received a 2 rating at State Music Competition. She received a 2 rating at Districts as a senior for clarinet solo.
The Band Director for six of her eight years was Kent Kanauss. Tucker was presented the award by her brother, Caleb Tucker who won the Sousa Award in 2010. Their father, David Tucker won the award at Clopton in 1974.
She is the daughter of David and Tina Tucker of rural Eolia.
