David Ferman was approved to become Louisiana’s new city prosecutor in a special council meeting on Monday, Oct. 8.
The current prosecutor, Nathan Carroz, resignation becomes effective on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
Ferman was previously Louisiana’s city attorney from 2001 to 2009, and has come back to serve this year.
When asked how he sees his responsibilities changing in regards to the new appointment, Ferman said, “Just more things I can do to help the city and an opportunity to make things right. I like the opportunity to enforce the ordinances there. When you prosecute people it’s not a power struggle, it’s not like, ‘Wow, I can turn some people in jail.’ It’s trying to change people’s attitudes and behaviors toward the city.”
