Color Guard hold successful auditions

Posted on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 2:35 pm

If you have been to a parade or football game and have seen the Marching Bulldogs, you have seen the Color Guard twirling their flags and performing routines to the music. Recently auditions were held to choose the squad for 2014-2015. Mr. Micah Gooden, band and Color Guard director, was pleased with the number of girls auditioning. “Having 24 students try out for Color Guard was hectic but amazing. It makes me feel like good things are happening with the program.”
Students were taught a flag routine to the school fight song, a dance, various flag moves and throws, and marching techniques. Practice lasted three days, with tryouts on the fourth day. Many girls were very nervous before their auditions and some were in tears afterward because they felt they did not do well. All in all, the students auditioning did a great job, making the judging tough. After lots of tallying and tallying again, 12 girls were chosen for the squad.     Congratulations to the 2014-2015 Color Guard: Ally Cross, Samantha Pedersen, Samantha Renner, Kelly Smith, Tori Hartwick, Katelyn Watts, Cherity Pax, Haley Martin, Rachel Williams, Madison Dolbeare, Kaelee Wernowsky and Alexus Osborne.
