Clopton makes big run to get past Louisiana in Bowling Green Tournament

Just a couple of minutes into their first round game in the Bowling Green Tournament, the Clopton Lady Hawks started a little sloppy as they held a slim 6-5 lead midway through the opening quarter.
Unfortunately for the Lady Bulldogs, the Lady Hawks picked up their intensity and defensive pressure to spark a 36-0 run and cruised to a 62-15 victory. Kaitlyn Kuntz scored 10 points in the quarter as her play led to several fast break baskets for Clopton.
In the second quarter, Calynn Lockard scored four points and eight different Lady Hawks scored to push the lead to 42-5.
Louisiana’s Caitlyn Gloe finally broke the Lady Bulldogs’ offensive drought after her team was shut out before halftime.
Her three-point play was part of her seven points in the third quarter. Clopton went on to outscored Louisiana 20-10 in the second half to get the 47 point victory. Louisiana turned the ball over 25 times in the first half and 37 times in the game.
Meanwhile, Clopton’s offense made 27-of-48 shots from the field. They did turn over the ball 20 times.
According to unofficial statistics, Clopton was led by Kuntz’s 18 points, six assists, four steals, four rebounds, and one block. Mary Margaret Garrett added seven points, six steals, five assists, and three rebounds; Taylor Akers had four points, five steals, and two rebounds; Mdison Horstmeier tallied four points, one steal, and one rebound; Logan Hall had two points, two rebounds, and one steal; Madisyn Parrish had two points, one rebound, and one steal; Stephanie Talbert had six points, two steals, one rebound, and one block; Megan Harrelson added one point, five steals, and four rebounds; Caragan Lockard had eight points, four rebounds, three steals, and one assist; and Calynn Lockard had 10 points, one block, and one rebound.
Gloe led the Lady Bulldogs with 11 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.
Faith Rule added two points, two rebounds, and one block; Mechia Campbell had two points, two rebounds, and two steals; Jamie Sencenbaugh had two rebounds and one steal; Kamara Combs had three rebounds, two steals, and one assist; Ella Karttunen had one steal; Michelle Watts had one steal; and Maria Gutierrez added five rebounds and two steals.
