Clopton boys defeated, now 1-3 on the season

The Clopton Hawks lost their only game last week. They are now 1-3 on the season.

The Hawks could never quite catch up and lost at home to the Canton Tigers on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
Canton had a 21-14 lead at the end of the first quarter and never gave it up. The Tigers still had a 39-31 lead at the half.
Clopton cut the lead with a 14-11 run in the third quarter, but Canton was still ahead 50-45 at the end of the frame. The Tigers went on a 15-12 run in the fourth quarter to capture the win.
Senior guard Luke Adams had 10 points, three rebounds and two steals.
Senior forward Alek Eivins had 10 points, two rebounds and two steals.
Junior guard Stephen Talbert had nine points, including a three-pointer. He added six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Junior guard Kevin Hammett had eight points, including a three-pointer.
Senior forward Josh Miller had four points, five rebounds and a steal.
Next games
The Hawks were scheduled to play at home against Wellsville on Tuesday, Dec. 15 as the Press-Journal went to press. The Hawks will play immediately after the girls game, which starts at 6 p.m.
Clopton will be on the road to play Mark Twain, with the junior varsity starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18.
The Hawks will then play in the John Wood Shootout at John Wood Community College in Quincy, Ill., at 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21.
