Clopton boys advance to state in cross country

The Clopton Hawks boys team battled through the cold weather on Saturday, Oct. 28, for a second place finish at districts in Bowling Green to advance to the state competition in Jefferson City on Saturday, Nov. 4.
Junior Donovan Denslow continued to have an excellent season by medaling in second place with a personal record time of 17:12.
Three of his teammates also set personal records at a crucial time, with senior Landon Hall medaling in 15th with a personal best of 19:03, freshman Daniel Harvey placing 20th with a time of 19:34 and senior Parker Edmiston placing 35th with a time of 21:27.
Senior Blake Kendall placed 33rd with a time of 21:11 and sophomore Jared Hoehn placed 34th with a time of 21:12.
The girls team also had a strong showing in the district meet by placing third overall in Class 1.
Sophomore Tricia Luke will join the boys team at the state meet after medaling in 12th place with a personal best of 23:14.
Four freshmen also set personal records at the district meet: Caragan Lockard placed 16th with a time of 23:18, Megan Harrelson placed 21st with a time of 24:32, Kari Leake placed 27th with a time of 25:23 and Megan Richards placed 28th with a time of 25:29.
Freshman Taylor Akers placed 34th (26:01) and senior Katelynn Hammett placed 35th (26:08) for the girls team.
