The Clarksville Memorial VFW & Auxiliary, 36th year celebration was a big success. The evening opened with a prayer given by Chaplain Rev. Al Boatman, the Pledge of Allegiance led by the Youth Group and the National Anthem led by President Mary Tarpein.
A welcome and short history was given by Joanne Hammuck.
Special guests attending the event were Department of Missouri Senior Vice President Rowena Grisby, District 17 Commander Jamie Epperson and his wife, former District 17 Commander Paul Grisby, Otis Madden Jr., American Legion Rider Elsberry Post 226 Clarence Henke and his wife, Officer of Pike Safe Neighborhoods. All spoke special words to the Post and Auxiliary.
Gracie Wyatt spoke about her involvement in getting the Auxiliary started. She also spoke about her husband’s involvement in getting the Post stated. She said she was very proud of how they had worked together for 36 years and hoped they could continue to work for many more years.
Others speaking were past Department Auxiliary President Janice Watts. Representing the Junior Girls were Amanda Powell Elliott and Miranda Blair Dixon who told of their special memories.

•New Members- Michael Everett, Shelly McBride, Charlie Rifflee, Camille Shultz and Debbie Wheller
It was a very inspiring evening. The Youth Group was in charge of decorating the Post, pinning on the pens and serving the refreshments.
The VFW Commander Herbert Everett and President Mary Tarpein gave the closing remarks.
