Clopton Lady Hawks head coach Deaven Streed knew her team would have to play some of their best basketball of the season if they were to get past Bowling Green in the finals of last week’s Bowling Green Tournament.
After all, they were without leading scorer Jillian Lockard and drew the task of knocking off a host Lady Bobcats’ squad in front of their loud and huge crowd in the championship game.
Fortunately, the Lady Hawks clawed their way through the final seconds of the game.
It was then that Taylor Akers hit a buzzer beater off the backboard to give the Lady Hawks the Bowling Green championship.
“It was awesome to see Taylor have that success for us,” Streed added.
