On April 17, 2019, Officer Justin McCloud investigated a domestic assault at a residence on North Main Cross Street. During the investigation, it was learned that the suspect was armed with a handgun, and still in the residence, refusing to come out.

Several attempts were made to get the suspect out of the residence. Later in the afternoon, it was learned that the suspect had been talking to a family member on the phone. McCloud used the family member’s phone and talked to the suspect. Using his training from CIT and interview and interrogation training, McCloud was able to talk the suspect out of the house and surrender. McCloud’s actions ended a highly volatile situation with no one being injured.
