Those who braved the heat in Clarksville on Saturday, June 9, were rewarded with a range of different chili recipes that all stood out in their own ways.
“It was just a really great day,” Event Coordinator Linda Blakey said.
Larry Wright was the big winner of the Homestyle category ‘main event’.
He was also the winner of the verde category and took third in the Red category.
There were 22 entrees into the Homestyle category, more than the 15 that Blakey was expecting.
“It was way above my expectations. Being the first year you expect the numbers to be slow,” Blakey said.
Diana Lentz was the winner of the Salsa category.
Henry Stephens was the winner of the Red category.
The event was sponsored by the Raintree Arts Council with Blakey in charge.
She got help for the front gate from the Chautauqua Women’s Club.
