Authorities search field after high speed chase

Officials from more than three area sheriff departments, two municipal police departments, the Missouri Department of Conservation, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are currently searching for an unidentified man in a portion of rural Pike County.
According to a public safety announcement from the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, sometime before midnight on Saturday evening authorities were alerted to a police chase that was approaching Pike County.
Per a source within the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, the chase began when officers in Auxvasse attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon. The vehicle did not stop and authorities followed the vehicle from Auxvasse into Audrain County. The vehicle then proceeded to drive from Audrain County into Pike County, where shortly before midnight the suspect abandoned the vehicle near Pike County Road No. 41 in central Pike County. The male suspect then proceeded to flee the scene on foot.
As of press time, the following law enforcement agencies have been involved or are currently involved with the search for this suspect: the City of Bowling Green Police Department, the City of Auxvasse Police Department, the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department, the Callaway County Sheriff’s Department, the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, the Missouri Department of Conservation, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department employee who spoke with the Times, it is not known at this time whether or not the suspect is armed. Also, a complete description including height, weight, and other characteristics have not been released at this time.
