The weather will be warm but a little chili in Clarksville this Saturday.
The 26th Annual Show-Me Missouri State Chili Cook-off in Clarksville is sure to delight the palate of hungry patrons in Riverfront Park.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 9.
The big change to this year’s cook-off is the elimination of the “Anything Goes” category for the addition of the “Homestyle” category.
“Before, it was bragging rights in Clarksville only,” event organizer and International Chili Society member Linda Blakey said.
“Now it’s a big deal. They’re competing for $20,000.”
The winner of the ‘Homestyle’ category will advance to the World Championship Chili Cook-off at Gateway Motor Sports Park in the St. Louis area in late September.
‘Homestyle’ chili can be singularly meat or meat with a combination of vegetables, peppers, beans, spices or other ingredients.
Other categories include traditional red, green and salsa.
