Equipped with a minimalist backdrop, a handful of stage lights, and low-budget stage props, the four person cast of “The Last Romance” brought characters Ralph Bellini, Carol Reynolds, and Rose Tagliatelle to life in this two-act play that focuses on the relationships between older adults.
The play — which is the first staged by Raintree Arts Council and its affiliated theater troupe, The Changlings, since 2011 — tells the story of Ralph Bellini, who in an effort to escape the monotony of his daily life with his sister, Rose, changes the course of his daily walk.
This change, as innocent as it might be, reveals to Ralph a canine-friendly park that was obscured to him on his previous walks.

Carol Reynolds, portrayed by Laurel Norton, and Ralph Bellini, portrayed by Ricky Fournier, star in the newest play to be staged by Raintree Arts Council. This new play, “The Last Romance,” officially opened Saturday night will have two more performances this weekend including a 7 p.m. show on Friday and a 7 p.m. show on Saturday. Both performances will be at The Apple Shed’s historic Ludwig Theatre.
