Five Louisiana students attend Boys State program

By Holly Hill Five students from Louisiana High School attended American Legion Boys State in June: Elijah Oblinger, Jesus Ramos, Dallas Castagna, Jackson Chamberlain and Spencer Brown.   • Historical Museum awarded grant

    Louisiana Area Historical Museum Board members Dorothy Webb, Pat Glenn, Judy Schmidt, Martha Sue Smith and Ned Glenn with Community Foundation Board Chair Andy Sprague from Kinderhook, Ill. The museum recently received a grant from the foundation.

    The Louisiana Area Historical Museum has been awarded a grant by the Community Foundation serving West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri.   • NECAC to end Affordable Care Act services Aug. 31

    The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) will end its contracted Affordable Care Act services to residents of 13 Missouri counties on Aug. 31. The agency decided not to seek an extension of the contract. The affected counties are Franklin, Lewis, Lincoln, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Ralls, Shelby, Randolph, St. Charles and Warren.   • Clarkville VFW organizations meet

    The Clarksville Memorial VFW Post, Ladies Auxiliary and Junior Girls Unit held its regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the Christian Church in Clarksville.     The Clarksville Memorial VFW Post 4610 Junior  Girls attended the Department of Missouri Junior Girls Conference in Springfield. While there Samatha Chatman was elected as Department  of Missouri VFW Junior Girls President for 2014-2015 year.     Pastor Keith Barnhart of Edgewood Baptist Church presents a check to Kay Miller of Twin Pike Family YMCA for after school program scholarships.

    Twin Pike Family YMCA sponsors before/after school programs in the BONCL, Bowling Green (including Frankford), Clopton, and Louisiana R-II school districts.  Knowing the importance of after school programs, many area churches and individuals provide scholarships for children to attend.
