      The Clarksville Memorial VFW Post will be selling BBQ pork steak, hamburger, pork burger and hot dog plates and sandwiches on Saturday Oct. 11 and Sunday Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. until ???. Plates consist of baked beans, potato salad, dessert and drink. Junior Girls will be selling raffle tickets for a gift card.

    2. Turkey Shoot @ Ashburn Fire Station
      12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

      The Ashburn Rural Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Turkey Shoot on Sunday, Oct. 12 beginning at noon at the Ashburn Fire Station. No alcohol allowed. For more information contact Bill Bateman at 573-629-8459 or Bernice Weaver at 573-754-5607.

      Ammunition furnished for each (shoot) 4-10, 20 and 12 guage

      Prizes: Ham, pork loin, turkey, and bacon.

      Shoot at paper targets

      Food and drinks will be available

      No Alcohol allowed

      All proceeds go to the Ashburn Rural Volunteer Fire Department to help with operating expenses and the purchase of new/up-to-date equipment.

      Location: Ashburn Fire Station — take Highway 79 (18 miles south of Hannibal or 14 miles north of Louisiana) to Route TT.  Fire station is approximately one mile on the left.

    1. Clarence Cannon Wildlife Area Tour
      4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

      Pike County Historical Society is sponsoring a tour of the Clarence Cannon Wildlife Area near Annada  on Tuesday, Oct. 14 prior the society’s meeting. Those interested in seeing the wildlife area should meet President Paul Lewis and Candy Chambers in Annada at 4 p.m. There will be carpooling as necessary to travel through the area. Chambers will be leading tour and describing the areas as they are seen.

      Pike County Emergency Response Commission (PCERC) will have its quarterly meeting on Oct. 14 at 5 p.m. at Dyno Nobel. Meet at the guard shack.

      Pike County Historical Society will meet Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Pike Pioneers Senior Center in Louisiana. Candy Chambers of the Clarence Cannon Wildlife Area at Annada will tell the history of the area. Fried chicken dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. To make reservations, which are required, call Linda Harmon at 242-3788, Georgia Gamm at 324-2753 or Mary Littrell at 754-4078 no later than Oct. 8.

      Democrats of Pike County will meet on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Pike County Health Department conference room.  Lowell Jackson, State Representative candidate and Terry Burris, Presiding Commissioner candidate, will be on the program.  Also, someone will be speaking about constitutional amendment #3 concerning teachers.       The Hannibal Mark Twain Chapter of the Association of Retired Missouri State Employees (ARMSE) will meet Friday, Oct. 17 at 11:30 a.m. at the Nutrition Center, 219 S. 10th St. in Hannibal.

      Program will be given by Stan Clark who is an accomplished musician playing the harmonica.

      Frankford Volunteer Rural Fire Department will hold its fourth annual Ham and Bean lunch served with corn bread, homemade desserts, tea and coffee in the Frankford Christian Church basement on Oct. 19 from 11:30 a.m. until ???  A good will offering will be accepted to help with a new Rural Fire Department Building expenses.
