      Louisiana American Legion Post 370 will host a forum for the two candidates in the Pike County presiding commissioner race on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the legion hall at 420 Kelly Lane in Louisiana. Doors will open at 6 p.m. This is a free, public event.

    1. Chili and Soup Dinner @ Bethel AME Church
      11:00 am – 12:00 pm

      The Bethel AME Church, Paynesville will hold its Annual Harvest, Chili and Soup Dinner on Friday Oct. 24 beginning at 11 a.m. The meal will consist of homemade chili or homemade soup (vegetable, loaded baked potato or chicken noodle), sandwich (pimiento cheese, tuna, chicken, or hot dog) and drink. Desserts are extra.

      The Southern Pike County Interchurch Council will hold its Annual Songfest on Sunday Oct. 26 at the Clarksville Christian Church at 2 p.m. Choirs and soloists are invited. Refreshments will be served after the program.

      Louisiana Fire Department’s Haunted House  fundraiser will be held Oct. 30 thru Nov. 1 beginning at 6 p.m. each day at the Elks Lodge, 120 N. 5th St. in Louisiana. On Halloween the Elks Lodge will provide a free chili dog for participants that make it through the Haunted House.  Sponsored by the Louisiana Elks Lodge 791.

    1. “Trunk or Treat” in Frankford @ First Christian Church
      5:00 pm – 7:30 pm

      The Frankford First Christian Church will be hosting it’s Fourth Annual “Trunk or Treat” on Oct. 31 from 5-7:30 p.m. at North Main Cross between the Frankford Park and the church.

      The trunks of vehicles will be decorated in a child friendly Halloween Theme and filled with goodies for the “Trick or Treaters.” this year hot chocolate will be served in the lower level of the church.
