Louisiana fumbles Mayor’s Cup game

The Louisiana Bulldogs opened their 2014 football season at home against Bowling Green Friday, Aug. 22 with a 61-yard kickoff return by Cody Brown. It was a hopeful sign of things to come.   • Slow pitch softball season concludes

    Twin Pike Family YMCA Co-ed Slow pitch Softball wrapped up July 20. Nine teams participated in the league with more than 110 individuals playing over the course of the season. Teams playing were Bad New Players, captain Adrian Hendricks; Unda Da Sea, captain Ariel Dorsey; Don’t Stop Believin’, captain Kelsey Henderson; Fred’s Auto, captains Lynn and Rich Wilkinson; Down and Dirty, captain Kenneth Smith; Team Judy, captains April and Mark Fronick; Batman Returns, captains Brenna Smith and Scott Parrish; Prez Eisenhower, captain Jennifer Eisenhower; and Backstreet’s Back, captain Mike Rieck.

  • Jenkins’ team captures chamber tournament

    The inaugural Louisiana Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament played Friday, Aug. 1 was won by the Shelter Insurance team. Team members  Tim Jenkins, Brett Branstetter and D.J. Koester dodged raindrops and won the trophy at the Pike County Country Club. Taking second place was Team Wallace. Team members were Tommy Wallace Jr., Ed Woods and Leroy Perkins. Team Henderson captured third place with members Kelly Henderson,Robert Branstetter and Randell Borrowman.
