The Louisiana High School Class of 1946 celebrated its 67th class reunion on Friday, Oct. 18 at Bella Frigento Ristorante.
After the 65th reunion, it was voted to meet annually over Colorfest weekend. In previous years the class met every five years.
The graduating class had 39 graduates and only 14 remain. Nine attended the reunion this year. They were Hayden Adkison, Peggy Boyd Ready from Montgomery City, Duey Branstetter Jr., Betty Conrad Allen, Betty Dun Hirsch from Florissant, Bea Henry Goodin, Don Ince, Naomi Rubemeyer Gottman from Hannibal, and Donald Shuford from East Peoria, Ill.
Three spouses attended Phylliss Adkison, Mary Lou Ince, and Jeanie Shuford.
Other friends or relatives in attendance were Eileen Lotton from Bellflower, Shirley Raney of St. Louis, and Carolyn Haley from Columbia.
Greetings were related from class members, Ramona Elder Miller from St. Charles, Roxie Ince McMillen from Frankford, and Carolyn Welch Hanger from Easton, Md.
Letters were read from Carolyn Redman and Trudy Rogelstad, daughters of former Principal Galen Lankford. They thanked the class for the generous contribution to the Alumni Association Memorial Fund in honor of Lankford’s 100th birthday.
Thankfully this action was taken before Lankford’s death, and he was able to write a note to Betty Allen expressing his gratitude.
Irene Steers was the last of the living parents of the class members. Joyce Findley sent a note of appreciation for the gift to the Alumni Memorial Fund in her memory.
The local committee was thanked for making the plans for the reunion, with special thanks to Adkison, president, and Goodin, secretary/treasurer.
