Reception honors Cone
A reception honoring the Rev. D. Randall Cone’s 50th anniversary of ordination as a Presbyterian minister was held on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Curryville Presbyterian Church located in Curryville.
Those that presented came from a wide area representing several churches and communities served by Cone over the years in northeastern Missouri.
The event began with a program led by the Rev. Michael Lewton, stated supply pastor of the Curryville Church. Rep. Jim Hansen presented Cone with a signed proclamation prepared by the Missouri House of Representatives.
Several people that were present gave accounts of the ministry of Cone. A solo “His Eye is on the Sparrow” was presented by Mrs. George (Virginia) Carlson, accompanied by Mrs. Marla Stubblefield Heaston on the piano, both from the Farber Presbyterian Church. Other special guests were the Rev. R. Carter Blaisdell, Cone’s brother-in-law from Black Mountain, N.C. and his wife, Kay. Also, Sarah Blaisdell Dittmer, Cone’s niece and her husband from Owasso, Okla.
A reception was held following the program in the church fellowship hall under the direction of a committee headed by Mrs. Terry (Joan) Dean of Bowling Green, assisted by Mrs. Mike (Leann) Smith, Mrs. Jeff (Cindy) Browning, Mrs. Jeff (Faye) Miller, and Mrs. Charles (DeeDee) Reading and Mrs. Mike (Sharon) Lewton, the last named as part of the Curryville Church. Mrs. Tresa Hodges of the Ladonnia Presbyterian Church attended the guest book.
