In Louisiana on Oct. 4, a familiar face and voice has joined two organizations as director.
The Louisiana Chamber of Commerce and Louisiana Visitors and Convention Bureau last week announced that Chris Koetters will be in the newly created position for both organizations. Koetters, who has previously been involved with tourism and the hotel industry, will bring with him previous experiences to the new position.
“I was closely involved with the Hannibal Convention and Visitors Bureau while working in Hannibal. I gained valuable experience during that time that I can bring with me to the new position.”
More recently, Koetters was an on-air talent with KJFM radio in Bowling Green and Louisiana.
Bart Niedner, president of the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce is excited for this new direction that both organizations are going.
“This is a huge step forward for both the chamber and LVCB. Among other things, Chris brings an important set of computer and Internet communication skills to our toolbox.
“I believe this staffing decision will place both organizations in a solid position to take great advantage of the modern, digital world.”
Koetters has already been busy the past week meeting with local businesses and government leaders as he settles in to the new position.
“My first official day will not be till Oct. 14, but I have already been busy learning the ins and outs of the position. I have also had the opportunity to meet with businesses in the city to get a better understanding of what we have to offer and what we can do to bring new businesses in and help those who are already here.”
Both the chamber and the visitors and convention bureaus have several events throughout the year in Louisiana including the Country Colorfest, Plein Air, Farmers Market and the fourth of July festivities.
The new director is very excited for the future, “There is so much potential in not only this position but also the city as a whole. I feel confident that this position will open up new avenues for the city to help us prosper into the future.”
Both Niedner and Koetters mentioned that membership and volunteers are always needed for both organizations.
