Nightingale chapter to have “bakeless bake sale”
Members of Nightingale Chapter number 117, Order of the Eastern Star, will have an opportunity to support the chapter financially by making donations to a “bakeless bake sale.”
They are asked to contribute the amount of money that would be paid for a homemade cake, pie, cookies, etc., at a regular sale, but no work is involved.
Worthy Matron Kathy Waite presided at the Sept. 23 meeting at the Masonic Temple in Louisiana when the fundraising event was planned. With the consolidation of Silex Chapter number 80, members are spread over a wider area of Pike and Lincoln counties making it more difficult to gather for a fundraiser.
A friendship night at Jonesburg Chapter number 353 will be Oct. 1 with everyone to bring items to donate to the USO of Missouri club at Lambert International Airport. The 139th session of the grand chapter of Missouri will be held in Columbia Oct. 13 through Oct. 16. Chapter secretary Marilyn Johnson will attend, serving on the credentials committee and as a host for the Grand Representatives breakfast.
Officers for 2013-14 have been elected. They are, Worthy Matron Kathy Waite, Worthy Patron Haines Moss, Associate Matron Helen Crew, Associate Patron Steve Waite, Secretary Johnson, Treasurer Robert Frank, Conductress Linda Frank and Associate Conductress Beverly Bibb Goetsch. They will be installed in November.
The chapter will not hold the Oct. 14 regular meeting as it occurs during the Grand Chapter session. The next meeting will be Monday, Oct. 28 with Robert and Linda Frank serving refreshments following the meeting.
