Louisiana Country Colorfest parade organizers are making final plans for the 29th annual event on Oct. 19.
The parade grand marshalls this year will recognize those who have served our country. Veterans and Military personnel are invited to ride on a float.
All businesses and organizations are invited to participate by registering a float or other motorized vehicle, bands and small groups to walk, emergency vehicles and antique cars and tractors. The parade will start promptly at 10 a.m. from the Raintree Mall on the west end and travel east along Georgia.
As in the past those who chose to walk the parade route will be asked to gather at 9th and S. Carolina Street. A parade organizer will be there to provide direction into the parade route as it approaches. Marching bands, antique cars and tractors can enter the parade route at Sunset Park.
Again, an official will insert those groups and vehicles into the parade route as it passes. The Louisiana High School driveway will be the staging area for all emergency vehicles. Floats and other motorized vehicles are being asked to lineup at the Raintree Mall.
Parade officials will be on hand to provide direction into the parking area of the mall for proper line up and judging.
Awards this year will be given for best of show, most colorful, best decorated, and walkers’ division. Floats and motorized vehicles that want to be considered should be lined up at Raintree Mall by 9:30 a.m.
Anyone who would like to register in advance or has questions can call the Chamber of Commerce office at 573-754-5921.
