Applefest weekend and colorfest young artist show
Raintree Arts Council is planning a busy Applefest weekend and ColorFest Young Artist Show
Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13 are the dates for Clarksville’s Applefest.
Planners are looking for participation in the parade on Saturday, and vendors for the juried craft show in the Apple Shed and outside as well.
The Saturday morning parade will start at 10 a.m. at the river front and end at the south edge of town. We will be selling apples and apple cider in the Apple Shed. There will be food sold in the Apple Shed kitchen.
Raintree Arts Council has an on-going silent auction of several local artist works for the benefit of the Jamie McIlroy Memorial Supply scholarship that is awarded each spring.
Raintree Arts Council will host its 39th annual art exhibition and competition for students and adults in the Apple Shed on Saturday and Sunday.
For students interested in entering, entries must be 9 inches by 9 inches on 10 inches by 10 inches black construction paper, labeled and entered by Sept. 30. Those may be mailed or delivered to 1905 Georgia Street. There is a fee of $1 per entry for student work and limited to three entries each.
Adult entries will be accepted on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 10 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Entry fee for the adult division is $4.50 per entry for members and $6 per entry for non-members.
This year the show will be divided in two divisions: amateur and professional, judging each division separately. Prize monies are larger this year as well. This show will be judged on Friday afternoon and the critique will be held at the Apple Shed at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11. Our judge this year is Jacob Stanley, who teaches at Lindenwood Universtiy.

Raintree Arts Council will partner with the Bank of Louisiana and present a Young Artist Art Show and competition during the Louisiana Colorfest. This show will be held at 312 Georgia St.

This show will be open on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The silent auction will end on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. This is the same silent auction mentioned earlier in the article, to help fund our annual Jamie McIlroy Memorial Supply scholarship.
