Grain trailer splits in half in Hwy. 54 accident.
Fred Gentry, left, of Curryville, surveys the damage following a grain spill on Hwy. 54 near Louisiana on Wednesday, July 3.
A grain trailer split in half and spilled a load of grain across both lanes of Hwy. 54 near Hwy. UU just outside of Louisiana about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3. No one was injured but traffic was blocked in both directions.
Right after eastbound truck driver Fred Gentry of Curryville crossed the Noix Creek Bridge, the trailer “just broke in two,” he said. “It could have been worse,” but no other cars were in the vicinity at the time of the accident.
MoDOT crews were on the scene all afternoon, pushing grain off the road and loading into another truck and trailer so that traffic could resume.
